April 13 2014 -Work Day being a Father

Let's Go to April 13th 2014.

I was playing with him till that day afternoon, I was running around my son who was sleeping on the bed.

He is my future, he is my prized possession, he will be my joy all through my life.

I will be ecstatic when he smiles at me.  Words cannot describe parenthood. On that day i did something very wrong

He will be going amok when he sees me sometime lying on bed, kicking his legs violently. He shows fantastic expressions, happiness, sad, anger, kindness, irritation, joy, hunger, anxious all in a matter of few seconds which makes me feel blessed.

However on that day, he was lying on the floor going amok seeing a religious show on the tv. I saw there was no cushion for him underneath.

I took him in my hand, laid him on my shoulders and then picked up the cotton sheets long enough for him and laid it carefully, laid another sheet. then the rubber sheet to prevent his poo poo or koo koo wetting the sheets, then i put a small cloth folded it to form a small pillow. All done

Now i was trying to lay him on the pillow, i put his butt on the mat and then it happened. he slipped out of my hand and he fell on the mat from a few inches above the mat. I was shocked, felt very bad, for a father i couldnt protect my Son.

He started crying, i felt deeply hurt. i quickly lifted him cuddled him and then  tried to pacify my crying son.
He stopped crying on his mom's shoulders  I felt very very bad,

I felt very careless and stupid, I will not be such a careless Father anymore and that would soon be a Reality.

Atri - 2 months and 3 weeks update

My Beloved son Atri is growing and growing fast. Its like the best thing that could have happened to my life after my wife. 

My Parents, Brothers are the first best thing in life for me. For to me they are way above everything. They are like the Unix Root Directory, nothing above it.

Atri is a quick learner and shows a variety of facial expressions. 

He raises one eye brow when you speak to him in an unfirendly tone.  He can smell food. He can understand that you are eating, He can understand you tone and react, which is amazing for a 3 month old kid. 

He has got the amazing sense of sorrounding. He watches TV a lot. Believe me he saw the Tamil Classic movie "Karnan" completely. Thats 3 hrs FYI,  

We allowed him to watch the movie as it tells about Ancient India .

He like his Maa (Mom) Dadi ( Grand Maa), Dada ( GrandPa), Periappa, Chittappa ( My brothers). 
He speaks in his own Gaga Gugu tone. There is one more amazing thing, he has got a greenish brown eyes, which i would love to see in the same stage or coloration when he is 18. 

There is lot more, in India we have our own traditional way of protecting child from Evil Eyes ( Bad Dhristi )
So my parents decided to do the Camphor Treatment. Here we take solid camphor, not made into tablets,
lit the camphor, transfer it to a plate and rotate it 5 times ( clockwise and anticlockwise)  from a distance infront of my son. 

Once thats done, the camphor is put in front of the house gate and that will be the last thing to be done before going to bed. 

When doing this, the most surprising thing happened in my life, My Son Atri started laughing instantaneously as soon as he smelled Camphor. He laughter was loud and pure. He was laughing, jumping, giggling and it lasted for a min and a half. 

That was an amazing 90 secs of my life. Though we have it recorded, we intend not to share the happiness with my friends or relatives yet. We may do so after he is an year old.

Atri will be 3 months old in 2 days from today and I strongly believe the next few months would be the most unforgettable period of my life and that will soon be a Reality.
